How does Interpreting by Phone work?
The first time you call Spanish Matters, you will set up an account. You must call 12 hours in advance to set an appointment for your interpreting session (We will take “call-ins” when possible). On the client end, you can utilize a speakerphone, a two-handset phone, or can conference in a third party at any time during the call. Clients working “in the field” also utilize cell phones when no regular phone is available.

Isn’t it always better to have an interpreter on-site?
In most instances, it is impractical and unnecessary to have an interpreter in person. Interpreting By Phone is much more inexpensive than sending an interpreter to your place of business. Other advantages of having a remote, telephonic interpreter are sensitive cases in which confidentiality is of paramount importance; it can be next to impossible to find an impartial interpreter in a tight-knit local ethnic community. In those and many other instances, an telephonic interpreter is the best option.

What if we already utilize a telephonic interpreting service?
You are most likely paying too much. We will beat any competitor’s price.* Spanish Matters is among the lowest cost services in the industry.

Can't I just use a free automatic translation service online?
Yes, there are many free translation services available, but even the best ones only provide a basic understanding of the text translated and leave things to chance. As in the English language, there are many words in Spanish that have multiple meanings and as you can imagine, there are some words that you do not want translated incorrectly! For example In China, the KFC slogan "finger licking good" came out as "eat your fingers off". When it comes to quality translations that you want your customers to see, there is really no substitute for the accuracy of a qualified human translation.

How is Spanish Matters better than other translation services?
Being based in the United States, we are directly connected to the Latin American community and the Spanish language needs that they have. We solely provide English to Spanish translation and are able to dedicate ourselves 100% to fullfilling this specific need. We not only provide you a higher quality lower cost solution, but provide a personalized service that is dedicated to making sure you are 100% satisfied.

Don’t most Spanish Speakers in the US speak English anyway?
Yes, but when it comes to making purchases no one likes to leave things to chance and misunderstanding. Statistics have shown that the Latino community overwhelmingly prefers websites and advertisements in Spanish, and that many are much more likely to consider in-language ads to be important in their purchasing decisions.

How are English to Spanish translations priced?
Translation pricing is determined by a number of factors including the # of words in the translation project, the complexity of the subject matter, and the time required to complete the project.. Request a free quote to find out the exact price for your project.

Why should I translate my website and marketing materials?
Only 1% of website content in the United States is translated into Spanish, even though the Spanish-speaking community is nearly 15% of the total US population. By translating your website into Spanish you can increase your market exposure by 15% instantly!

With all the different Spanish dialects, how can I be certain that my translation will correctly address the US Spanish speaking Latin community?
When it comes to diversity, the Spanish language is tough to beat. Spanish is the official language in over 21 countries in which each has its own style, dialects, slang, and vocabulary that differentiate it from the others. At Spanish Matters, we provide 'Neutral' or "Standard" Spanish that is used to accomodate these differences. This form of Spanish can be understood by a Spanish-speaking person living anywhere in the United States from any type of Hispanic background.
